The mother then put her watch on her son's hand and ask, "What do you see?"

一個佛陀在旅途中，碰到一個不喜歡他的人。連續好幾天，好長一段路，那個人都用盡各種方法來侮辱他。最後，佛陀轉身問那個人：「若有人送你一份禮物，但你拒絕接受，那麼這份禮物最後會屬於誰呢？」那個人回答：「屬於原本送禮的那個人。」佛陀笑著說：「沒錯。若我不接受你的謾罵，那你就是在罵自己囉？」那個人摸摸鼻子走了。

只要心靈健康，別人怎麼樣都不會影響我們。相反，如果我們一味地在乎別人的說法或做法，就會失去自主權，受人支配。

做好份內該做的事
一個小男孩哭著回家了。因為在學校的活動裡，老師派他扮演一個小角色，而他的同學卻扮演主要角色。母親聽後，冷靜地把自己的錶放在男孩的手心裡，問男孩：「你看到什麼？」男孩回答說：「金錶殼和指標。」母親把錶背打開後，又問男孩同樣的問題，他看到許多小齒輪和螺絲。母親對男孩說：「這個錶假使缺少這些零件中的任何一件，便不能走了。就連那些你幾乎看不到的零件也是一樣重要。」
